Water & Land

As this painting developed, a feeling emerged of the pull between water and land. Perhaps for you it might evoke the pull between humans and our warming globe. For me, it developed from the memories I have of Mt. Desert Island in Maine’s Acadia National Park.

During my visits I loved to explore by gingerly climbing over the granite coastline. I was often mesmerized by the erosive power of its massive waves as they pounded and swirled over the continually changing rock formations. It seems to have almost instinctively created a highly textured painting of fissures, tiny sea creatures and coastal plants.

What does this painting evoke for you?
