Memories in Blue

When I opened my first box of crayons, I immediately questioned “Why aren’t these all blue?” Thus began a lifelong obsession with blues.

In my work, blue communicates self-awareness and memory. You can explore the depth of these hues in the layers of my mountainscapes. As they live in your home, my paintings should remind you of open spaces and a sense of wonder.

Child of the Mountains

I’ve always been an outdoor creature. As a child, I tried to stretch every drop of sunshine so I could spend more time outside—soaking in the land around me.

My memories of childhood and my past career in landscape design both influence the textures in my paintings. Within my work, you can find the grandeur of the Rockies, the soft silhouettes of the Appalachians, and the wisdom of the Alleghenies.

Student of Experimentation

In high school, my favorite part of art classes was watching the colors swirl as we washed our palettes in the sink. That experience inspired me to always explore new ways to work with my paints.

When I let the colors lead me, you can often find unexpected stories unfolding within the silhouettes on the canvas.

About Kat Corey Studio

So glad you stopped by! I’m Kat, an artist living in Lancaster County, PA.

My husband and I live on a rural property—complete with woods and native-stone paths—which inspires me daily. When I’m not painting in my studio, you can find me experimenting in different mediums, exploring in nature, and staying curious.

My paintings reflect how I see and feel the land around us. As my work finds a place in your home, I hope you also find a similar wonder of the world .
